Welcome to Cheddar Valley Community Church. We are a family friendly church in the Cheddar Valley, Somerset.
We are ordinary people, living real lives, making mistakes, experiencing joy and doing the best we can with what we have. We are each taking our next steps to becoming more like Jesus and helping others do the same. It doesn’t matter who you are or where you’re from or what you’ve done. You are of infinite worth to God and us. Wherever you are in life, you have a purpose and we want to help you become the person God created you to be.
CHURCH TOGETHER
SUNDAY GATHERING
We meet every Sunday, 5.30-7pm at Draycott Memorial Hall. The first Sunday of the month we share a light tea together before the service starts, the other Sundays please come and grab a cup of tea or coffee with a biscuit and take your seat. We welcome children to be part of our meeting.
Our Sunday meetings are usually streamed over zoom.
To join the zoom meeting click here.

SUNDAY MORNING PRAYER
Every Sunday morning, we meet to pray in The Oasis prayer room 9am-9.45am, seeking to draw close to Jesus and bringing the needs of our community and world to Him.

CHURCH.LIFE
Church.life is our informal weekend where we gather in small groups at different locations and at various times over the weekend. This will take place on any 5th Sunday of a month. It will usually involve church around the table where we get to enjoy communion as a meal. It’s about sharing life together, maybe with a walk or in someone’s home. It’s where you can invite your family and friends into a relaxed environment and maybe discuss some of those deeper questions and issues that life throws at us. For those who prefer there will be a zoom meeting. You will need to book onto the group you wish to join which you can do from our calendar page or follow the link here.
If you would like more information please message us.
HOME GROUPS
Home groups meet in person as well as over Zoom and through WhatsApp messages, supporting and praying for each other.
We have a number of different home groups that usually meet in people’s homes as well as at The Oasis. They all have a different flavour but all include bible study and a coffee. They are a place to make friends, find support and encourage each other in our Christian lives.

PASTORAL
Caring for and supporting each other is very important to us at Cheddar Valley Community Church. We have a Pastoral Lead, Anita, who co-ordinates this, working alongside the Leadership team. There is a great emphasis on everyone supporting each other and this is particularly seen through the home groups.
If you would like pastoral support please message us.
KIDS AND YOUTH
Our meeting at Draycott Hall is family friendly and children are encouraged to be a part of the meeting and have craft available. We also have a children’s group for those under 11, led by our dedicated children’s team, that go out for their own activities during the talk.
Our youth are encouraged to take roles within the life of the church, such as in the worship team or tech.
Note: We are committed to providing a safe environment for our young people and have a dedicated safeguarding co-ordinator who oversees this.

WORSHIP
Worship is a strong part of our culture at Cheddar Valley Community Church, there is a period of worship each Sunday meeting and a monthly worship evening. We also encourage those with musical talents to write and share new songs with the worship team. We view Communion as an important part of our worship and share communion together once a month. If you have musical talents and would like to express them as part of our worship team, please let us know.

SUNDAY SERVING
We are a community church and rely on church members to assist with Sunday service setup, tech, welcoming, and coffee. If you are able and willing to assist us on a Sunday, please let us know and message us.
IN THE COMMUNITY
INFINITY
Infinity is a group for young people aged 13-16 who meet every Thursday at the Church Centre from 3.30-4.45pm. This is a safe place to hang out with friends over pool, x-box, craft and games. There’s always toast served with the occasional treat of pizza! From 4.45pm until 5.15pm there is the opportunity to stay on for a more focussed time to chat about topics and go deeper into who God is.
We also hold regular events, working alongside other churches to support the young people in the valley including film nights, bonfire night and other fun activities.
Message us to find out more about Infinity.

WILDFIRE
Wildfire is a new group, just launched in 2022 for young people aged 9-11. We meet at the Church Centre on Wednesdays after school 4-5pm. There is now an option to stay on until 5.15 for further faith based activities. We have toast, craft, x-box, games and lots of fun hanging out together. We are joined by some members of Infinity who are young leaders.
Message us to find out more about Wildfire.

SYNERGY
Synergy is a group for people who find themselves ‘solo’ for whatever reason. We meet together once a month for lunch at various locations to chat and socialise, sometimes followed by a walk in the beautiful countryside of the Cheddar Valley. Do message us if you are interested and want to know more.
Message us to join Synergy.

CAMEO
Cameo (Come And Meet Each Other) is a group usually held at The Oasis, to bring together the older and more isolated in our community who find it harder to get out. We meet on the 3rd Thursday of the month at The Oasis in the afternoon and enjoy sandwiches, cake and lots of chatter! Do message us if you are interested and want to know more.

ABOUT US
MEET THE TEAM
Cheddar Valley Community Church is predominantly run by a fantastic group of volunteers, supported and led by a leadership team of 4 alongside 5 trustees. The leaders are incredibly grateful for all the energy and commitment the church gives to loving and supporting our community. Without all our volunteers the church would not be able to do all that it does.

GLOBAL LINKS
We have links with a number of churches across the world including churches in France, Turkey, Portugal, Bulgaria, USA and Wales. We regularly visit these churches providing teaching and support.
